Privacy policy
Joan (also called Family Brain) is a private application run by the Foster family for its own use. It isn't offered to the public.
What it accesses
With the family's consent, Joan uses Google APIs to read email in one family Google account ([email protected]), to send email from that account, and to read the family's calendars.
How the data is used
The information is used only to keep track of the family's own arrangements and to prepare notes for members of the family about them. It isn't used for advertising, profiling or any other purpose, and it isn't sold.
Where the data lives
Data and credentials are stored on a single computer owned by the family, with encrypted backups kept by the family.
Who else processes it
To write each note, Joan sends the relevant extracts (dates, events and message excerpts) to an AI model provider through its API. Today that provider is Anthropic (Claude). The provider processes the data only to return the note, under API terms that don't allow it to train models on the data. If the family adds or changes a provider, this page will name it. Nothing is shared with anyone else.
Google API Services
Joan's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data received from Google APIs isn't used to develop, improve or train generalised AI or machine-learning models, and people don't read it except the family itself.
Keeping and deleting data
Records are kept only as long as they're useful to the family, and the family can delete them at any time. Access can be withdrawn from the Google account's third-party access settings, after which Joan can no longer read or send anything.
